Teachers will leave the 2 days with:

  • 1. Understanding the impact of student choice of topic and genre on engagement
  •    2. Knowing how to confer in units that allow for choice of genre
  • 3. The skill to find a stack of texts as the starting point for designing a writing unit
  • 4. The ability to read like a writer and find teaching possibilities in a stack of mentor texts
  • 5. Knowing how to use their own writing to find process oriented teaching points.
  • 6. A process for designing/projecting writing units
Workshop Leader Biography: Matt Glover

Matt Glover has been a teacher, principal, author, and consultant for almost 35 years. An internationally known literacy consultant, Matt frequently speaks on topics related to nurturing writers, early reading, and supporting children’s intellectual development. His newest book is How to Become a Better Writing Teacher, co-written with Carl Anderson. He is the author of Craft and Process Studies: Units that Provide Writers with Choice of Genre, coauthor with Kathy Collins of I Am Reading, the author of Engaging Young Writers, coauthor with Mary Alice Berry of Projecting Possibilities for Writers, and coauthor with Katie Wood Ray of Already Ready and Watch Katie and Matt Sit Down and Teach Up. Lastly, he is coeditor with Ellin Keene of The Teacher You Want to Be: Essays about Children, Learning, and Teaching.

Refund Policy:

  • Refunds for the workshop may only be issued if cancelled by the Workshop leader(for reasons beyond her control) and we failed to find a suitable time for most of participants; or registered participant informs IES he/she is able to show up before 30/11/2024;
  • If there is insufficient registration before 30/11/2024 the IES will inform participants of the cancellation and refund the actual paid registration fee only.
  • Certificate: E-certificate signed by Matt Glover will be issued 5 days after the workshop.
